Kids will love transforming their handprints into a stalk of corn! This activity is great to incorporate into units about harvest, plant life cycles, or different vegetables. It’s a hands-on project that makes learning tangible and fun.

Creating this corn handprint is a chance to develop several different skills.

Supplies

Directions

Start by downloading the corn template and printing it out. Once you have the template printed, gather the materials needed for this fun activity. Get those scissors ready, and let’s help the kids bring this corn to life!

First, trace your child’s hand onto a yellow piece of paper and cut it out. Guide your child to draw the corn texture around the handprint with a marker.

Next, help your child glue the eyes to the center of the handprint.

Now, encourage your child to draw a smile in between and just below the eyes.

Position the husk on one side of the corn handprint and glue it in place. Repeat with the other side.

Finally, glue the stalk to the back and center of the corn.

Corn Handprint Craft

Materials

  • Colored cardstock or construction paper
  • Glue stick
  • Scissors
  • Marker
  • Corn template

Instructions

  • Download the corn template, print it, and cut out the pieces you need.
  • Begin by tracing your child's hand onto a yellow piece of paper and cutting it out.
  • Draw the corn texture around the handprint with a marker.
  • Next, glue the eyes to the center of the handprint.
  • Now, draw a smile in between and just below the eyes.
  • Position one husk on the side of the handprint and glue it in place. Repeat with the other husk.
  • Finish off by gluing the stalk to the back and center of the corn.
