Inside: Commemorate the beginning of each school year with these colorful first day of school signs free printables!
It’s the most wonderful time of the year! I can hear Mr. Williams’ jolly tone in that classic Christmas song.
Christmas in July you say?
Not exactly. I’m referring to the joyous time of year when you send your little kiddo back to school and you have just a teensy bit more quiet time during the day.
Ok, ok, I’m not heartless.
I have mixed emotions this year since my oldest son is now going to full day Kindergarten! It’s so crazy; just five and half years ago he was my first and brand new baby. It’s like the time has passed in the blink of an eye and yet the days have crawled by like a snail creeping down an airport walkway. In the wrong direction. So yeah, it’s so crazy at my house, time is running backward around here.
Yet here I am. The crazy mom train has brought me to this new, exciting, and scary point of life:
A child in school full time.
If you’ve been through this point in your life or if you are just about to experience it, I know that you’ll want to document this momentous stage in your little one’s life (if only to laugh at their dorky smile; see below).
And I have just the way to do it:
With these colorful and classic first day of school signs.
And I’m offering them to you in two slightly different styles to suit your particular child.
To me there are two different types of children:
There are the sweet, loving and angelic children that love to accommodate their mother’s every request to document the important details of their life. And then there are my children.
My kids squeal, cry, finagle, plaster on a fake smile and generally try to resist any picture I might want to take to remember a special occasion.
And so, it is only fitting that I created these first day of school signs with a lovely and sarcastic disclaimer, that reads: “I was told this picture was non-negotiable.”
First Day of School Signs
That way if the picture turns out terrible we can both look back and agree that it doesn’t matter what it looks like, but that I made them take that picture for their dear old, sentimental-but-sarcastic mom.
And if you have the angel child that loves to support their mom without resistance, then you can use the signs without the disclaimer.
It’s a win-win I say!
These first day of school signs are sized as 8″x10″ and go from preschool to 6th grade.
If you’re still taking pictures of your kids on their first day of school in junior high and high school hat’s off to you.
