Reading books to your kids this winter is an excellent way to nurture their minds and promote healthy intellectual development.

It’s an enjoyable, interactive activity that teaches important skills like communication, comprehension, critical thinking, and creativity.

Here are some of the best winter animal books.

Polar Bear Island is a fun book for winter! Polar Bear Island is just that – only for polar bears! That is until Kirby the penguin comes to visit. She turns the place around and adds tons of interesting excitement, but will the polar bears let her stay? You have to check it out and see for yourself!

Tacky The Penguin– This is a great book for children to learn about acceptance and valuing others for exactly who they are.

Owl Babies– A sweet book that teaches kids that Mom always comes back! It’s especially great for children who may have separation anxiety.

Winter Crafts For Kids

Crafting is a helpful learning tool to teach kids various skills that are important for their development. When they craft, they hone their gross and fine motor skills, critical thinking skills, scissor skills, and much more.

When a project is completed, they gain confidence and will want to proudly display their creation! All while kids are having fun and being creative, they’re benefitting by gaining all these skills.

Snowy Owl Printable Craft – Gather up your little owlets and have them make this fun paper craft! It’s a fun and easy activity kids can color or paint to make it their own. They’ll develop scissor skills, and fine motor skills, and learn to follow directions when they make this snowy owl!

Penguin Headband Craft– The kids will be waddling around in no time when they make this super cute headband craft! They’ll make their own penguin to wear with either the black and white version they can color in or the colored paper craft version.

Winter Activities For Kids

Brrr…it’s cold outside, so let’s stay inside with these snowman worksheets instead. They’re a great way to keep kids engaged and practicing handwriting skills. These pages also help them learn letter recognition and how to use their scissors. They’re a great activity at home or in the classroom.

These four different penguin cutting activity printables are a fun way for kids to practice using scissors. Each page features our tuxedoed friends from the South Pole to guide them in cutting with their scissors. When kids use their scissors, they build hand strength, hand-eye coordination, and fine motor skills.
