Every child is excited to learn about community helpers. They get a chance to see what it’s like in the world outside of their own home and neighborhood.

Police officers are always a popular topic since kids are curious about what they do and how they protect our communities.

This police officer paper bag puppet craft is the perfect way for kids to learn about community helpers while having a blast playing pretend!

This paper bag puppet craft is perfect for rainy days or any time you need a little excitement. All you need is a paper bag, some construction paper, and some scissors and glue.

Kids will love getting to design their own police officer, complete with badge and uniform. And when they’re done, they can put on a puppet show for the whole family!

Supplies

• Brown paper bag
• Colored cardstock or construction paper
• Scissors
• Glue stick
• Police template (enter your email in the form at the end of this post to have the link sent to you)

Directions

Download the police template, print, and cut out the pieces you need.

Begin by gluing the hair to the top of the head.

If using the boy officer template, glue the eyes on either side of the nose. If using the girl officer template, skip to the next step.

Create the hat by gluing the larger badge to the middle of the hat. Next, glue the hat to the top of the head.

Make the police officer’s body by gluing the shoes to the bottom of the body.

Glue the belt to the middle of the body, just above the leg marks. Take the outer buckle and glue it in the middle of the belt. Then, take the inner buckle to the middle of the outer buckle.

Next, glue the tie just above the belt.

Place the badge to the right of the tie and glue it in place.

Take the completed body piece and glue it to the main portion of the brown paper bag.

Now glue the head to the flap portion of the bag.

Create the arms by gluing hands to the end of the arms.

Finish up by gluing the arms, one on each side of the body, to the side flaps of the bag.

Now your child has a cool police puppet!
