Santa Paper Craft

This shape learning activity helps preschool and kindergarten kids recognize and practice their shapes in the most festive way possible! They’ll transform basic shapes like circles, squares, triangles, and rectangles into Santa’s cheerful face and bright red suit. 

Kids will work on focusing, hand-eye coordination, and following directions when they make their Santa out of different shapes. Plus, they’ll get to practice using scissors and gluing it all together. It’s a fun way to blend early learning and creativity together.

Directions

Start by downloading and printing the template. Once the template is printed, gather the materials for this fun activity. Get those scissors ready, and let’s help the kids bring this santa to life!

Help your child look for the triangle hat piece and the long rectangle hat fluff. Glue the hat fluff along the bottom of the triangle.

Next, grab the circle hat pom. Place a little glue on the top point of the triangle and stick the pom right on top. Now Santa’s hat looks extra jolly!

Now it is time for Santa’s head! Find the oval face shape and the square beard piece. Glue the face onto the top portion of the beard piece.

Look for the round eye pieces and glue them right above the smile. As soon as the eyes go on, Santa takes on the sweetest wide-eyed expression!

Let’s build Santa’s iconic suit! Glue the yellow square buckle to the center of the rectangular belt on the suit.

Now glue Santa’s head right above the suit.

Take the two long red rectangles and glue them to the bottom of the suit. Then glue the short black boot rectangles at the ends of the legs.

Find the white rectangle suit bottom fluff and glue it across the bottom of the suit. This fluffy trim gives Santa that cozy winter look.

After that, grab the two red arm rectangles and glue one on each side of the suit.

Now, glue the small skin colored hand rectangles to the ends of the arms.

Santa Shape Craft

Kids will have a merry time learning as they build jolly old Saint Nick with this Santa shape craft that turns simple shapes into a festive holiday character.

Materials

  • Colored cardstock or construction paper
  • Scissors
  • Glue
  • Marker
  • Santa Shape Template

Instructions

  • Download the template, print it, and cut out the pieces you need.
  • Start by gluing the hat fluff along the bottom of the triangle hat, then glue the pom to the top point.
  • Once the hat is ready, glue the face onto the top section of the beard piece, above the mouth.
  • Add the eyes above the mouth and glue them in place.
  • Optionally, use scissors to cut vertical strips along the bottom of Santa's beard.
  • Glue the hat to the top of Santa's head.
  • Use a marker to draw the nose below the eyes.
  • Move on to the suit by gluing the buckle in the center of the belt.
  • Next, glue Santa’s head onto the top of the suit.
  • Glue the legs to the back and bottom of the suit.
  • Now, glue the suit fluff onto the bottom of the suit.
  • Take the suit arms and glue them to the back and middle of Santa's body.
  • Place the hands on the back of each arm and glue them in place.
  • Finish by gluing the arm fluff on both sides, where the suit and hands meet.
