Ripped Paper Shark Craft
This torn paper shark comes together when kids tear shades of blue or gray construction paper to create their shark’s textured body. No scissors needed — just tiny hands and lots of tearing fun.
While tearing paper into little pieces might seem like play, it helps strengthen their finger muscles and boost their coordination.
Gluing each scrap in place encourages focus and fine motor control, too.
If your little ones are wild about sharks, they’ll love watching their creation come to life with each piece they stick down. Use our free template to guide the placement of each piece. Just download and gather some paper and glue to get going!

Take your construction paper and tear it into small pieces. Now, take your blue paper with the shark outline and apply glue inside the shape.

Time to bring your shark to life! Let your child stick the torn paper pieces inside the glued outline.

Once the body is filled in, glue the mouth piece near the bottom part of the shark’s head.

Now let’s give your shark some character. gGrab the eye and glue it above the mouth, near the top of the head. See how it instantly looks more playful or maybe a little mischievous?

Take a blue marker and add wavy lines all around the background to make it look like your shark is swimming in the ocean!
