If there’s one Christmas movie we can’t go without watching during the holiday season it’s How The Grinch Stole Christmas!
We have a family tradition of watching the original 1966 version of the Grinch movie each year. It’s a classic and even though we like the newest version, it’ll never be a replacement for the original.
Recently, we created this toilet paper roll Grinch craft to go along with our family movie night.
If you want to learn how easy it is to make this craft with your kids (or students), read or watch our video tutorial below.

Take a glue dot and stretch it out to cover the front half of the paper roll, where the Grinch’s skin and the red part meet.
Glue the white pom poms in a line to make the Santa Claus fluff. If you aren’t using glue dots, use the glue stick or liquid glue to glue each of the pom poms on.
Stretch another glue dot out along the bottom front of the Santa Claus hat. Glue the white poms in place there too.
Glue a single white pom to the top of the hat. Use the glue stick or a glue dot to secure the Santa hat to the top of the toilet paper roll.
You’re finished! This is such a fun recycled Christmas craft for kids.
Paper Roll Grinch Template
Included in the download for this craft are two separate templates. The first one is the Grinch craft in full color, as explained above.
This craft is great for doing at home or in small groups. If you are doing this with a larger group or you’re worried about using too much ink, there’s another option. The second part of this file is a black and white version of the craft. You can print this off on plain white paper or card stock and let the kids color it in.
We used crayons in our example, but you can also use colored pencils or markers.
This will allow you to print a lot of copies for a large group like a classroom, daycare or library, but you won’t have to worry about costs.
It also adds a fun and creative element to the project since the kids are able to color it in however they want! Either way, we’re sure they’ll love making this simple Grinch craft.
