Scarecrow Craft For Girls
Kids will love making this adorable scarecrow girl craft, complete with straw braids, a big floppy hat, and a patched-up dress that’s ready for fall. It’s a great way to combine a little pretend play with creative time, and no two scarecrows will look the same.
This activity helps children build important skills without them even realizing it! Cutting, gluing, and placing the pieces strengthens fine motor control. Choosing the colors and layout builds confidence in creativity and decision making.

Supplies
- Colored cardstock or construction paper
- Scissors
- Glue
- Black Marker

Directions
Start by downloading and printing the template. Once the template is printed, gather the materials for this fun activity. Get those scissors ready, and let’s help the kids bring this scarecrow to life!
Take the head piece and place it on your surface. Then, glue the eyes just below the eyelashes, lining them up evenly on both sides.
Stick that little orange triangle nose right between the eyes, just above the smile.
Grab the yellow braided hair piece and glue it on top of the head.
Take the brown hat and glue it on top of the head, right over the braided hair piece.
Time to glam it up! Glue the bow onto the hat and let your kids decide where to put it. Whether it’s right in the center or off to the side, it’s their masterpiece!
Lay the dress piece flat and glue the yellow arm pieces to the back of each sleeve. This is the scarecrow’s arm peeking through.
Now grab the yellow zigzag trim and glue it along the bottom edge of the dress. This gives the scarecrow that fun straw-skirt look.
Grab the colored patch and glue it onto the front of the dress. Let your child decide where they want to place it. There’s no right or wrong spot. Just let them have fun with it.
Use a black marker to draw short stitch lines on the patch. This gives it a sewn-on, rustic look. Your child can make little X marks, lines, or whatever they think fits.
Flip the dress over and glue the brown stick to the back. It should stick out from the bottom so you can hold the scarecrow like a puppet.
Finally, take the finished head piece and glue it to the top of the dress. Line it up so the face sits right above the sleeves and straw arms. Press gently to make sure it sticks.

Instructions
- Download the template, print it, and cut out all the pieces you need.
- Begin by gluing the eyes onto the face, just below the eyelashes.
- Next, glue the hair on top of the head.
- Position the hat on top of the hair and glue it down.
- Then, glue the bow onto the hat.
- Place the head aside and lay the dress piece flat.
- Glue the arm straw to the back of each sleeve.
- Next, glue the dress straw to the back and bottom of the dress.
- Glue the patch anywhere on the dress.
- Use a marker to draw stitch marks on the patch.
- Flip the dress over and glue the stick to the back.
- Finally, glue the head onto the top of the dress to complete the scarecrow.
