Trick or Treating Ghost Craft
The fun part about these ghosts is dressing them up! Kids can give their ghost a pointy witch hat or a pirate hat with a skull and crossbones. Then there’s that little jack-o’-lantern bucket. Even ghosts need somewhere to collect their Halloween candy!
As kids cut out the ghost shapes, color the faces, and glue their pieces together, they’re getting some useful scissor and fine motor practice. And figuring out where to place the hats and candy buckets gives them a chance to work on positioning the pieces while making their ghost look just right.
The printable craft pieces help keep everything simple enough for younger kids, too. With some paper, crayons or markers, scissors, and glue, they’ll have an adorable ghost ready for Halloween without needing a complicated project.

Directions
Start by printing the template, then gather the materials for this fun activity. Get those scissors ready, and let’s help the kids bring this friendly ghost to life!

Grab a pink marker and let your child color in the ghost’s cheeks, following the two circles below the eyes. This is a fun moment to practice recognizing circles while giving the ghost a cheerful look!

Use a black marker to color in the upper part of the ghost’s mouth, leaving the tongue uncolored. Encourage your child to follow the outline for a little fine motor practice.

Use a red marker and let your child color in the tongue. Your ghost’s happy smile is coming together!

Take the pumpkin piece and glue it onto the center of the ghost, just below the printed handle. Help your child line up the top of the pumpkin with the bottom ends of the handle so it looks like a Halloween treat bucket.

Glue the two hands onto the ghost, with one overlapping each side of the pumpkin. Position the rounded ends toward the pumpkin’s center so your ghost looks like it’s holding its treats!

Finally, glue the pirate hat across the top of the ghost, just above the eyebrows.

Your child’s friendly ghost is ready for pretend trick-or-treating! Encourage them to tell a story about their ghost for a little language practice after crafting.

Halloween Books for Children
Room On The Broom: This has to be one of our favorite Halloween books of all time! The story follows a witch and her cat as they happen upon some animals who help the witch. There’s danger, mystery, and friendship in this adorable children’s story.
The Good, The Bad, And The Spooky: Halloween is the Bad Seed’s favorite holiday, but when he can’t come up with the perfect costume, he decides trick-or-treating should be postponed for everyone! Kids will love following his funny quest to find a show-stopping costume before the big night. With plenty of humor and Halloween fun, this is a great seasonal read for fans of The Bad Seed and the Food Group series.
Ten Timid Ghosts: This is a fun countdown book about a witch who moves into a haunted house where 10 ghosts already live. The witch scares the ghosts out one by one until they devise a scheme to get her out of their house. This Halloween children’s book is good for kids who love rhyming stories!

Spooky Fun Halloween Crafts:
Vampire Pumpkin Disguise Craft: Even pumpkins can get into the Halloween spirit! Kids create a vampire costume for their pumpkin, complete with a dramatic black cape and pointy fangs. I think the combination of a friendly pumpkin face and those sharp little teeth makes this one especially funny.
Haunted House Torn Paper Craft: Who knew ripping paper could make such a good haunted house? Kids tear paper into uneven pieces to create the walls, then add a colorful roof and floating ghosts. The crooked edges actually make the house look better, so there’s no need to worry about perfectly straight pieces.

Halloween Potion Name Craft: A bubbling witch’s potion with a child’s name inside? That’s a pretty fun way to practice spelling! Kids create their own potion bottle and add letter bubbles that spell out their name. They can even choose the potion’s color, because every good witch needs a special recipe.
Paper Plate Witch House Craft: A paper plate makes a surprisingly good home for a witch! Kids paint it, add windows with spooky silhouettes, and finish with a little witch flying across the roof on her broomstick. I especially like the flying witch because she makes the whole house feel like a scene from a Halloween story.
Free Classroom Printables for October:
Dot to dot pages are just more fun when a ghost is waiting at the end! These ghost connect the dots printables have kids follow the numbers to complete friendly ghost pictures. One ghost even wears a witch hat and rides a broom. Once the dots are connected, kids can color their finished Halloween characters.

What would a ghost wear if it didn’t want anyone to know it was a ghost? That’s the question behind these disguise a ghost free printables. Kids get to invent a costume for their ghost, then describe its new identity. There’s even a wanted poster where they can come up with a silly crime their disguised ghost committed!

The tricky part isn’t spotting a mummy or a zombie. It’s figuring out which one belongs in the empty space! With these Halloween pattern worksheets, kids study the repeating pictures, then cut and paste the character that completes each row. I like that they have to stop and think before reaching for the glue!
Scissor practice doesn’t have to mean cutting the same straight lines over and over. These Halloween cutting practice worksheets have kids follow different paths, including a winding route along a witch’s broomstick. There’s also a funny monster-matching page where they cut out the correct bodies for a mummy, zombie, and skeleton.
