Hide A Ghost Project Idea
For this version, kids give their ghost a classic witch makeover. They can choose different colors for the hat band and cape, then add the broom to finish the disguise. Suddenly that sweet little ghost looks ready to fly off for Halloween night.
Cutting out the costume pieces gives kids some scissor practice, while arranging and gluing everything onto the ghost works those fine motor skills too. There’s enough to put together to keep them busy without turning it into an all-afternoon project.
The printable template takes care of the shapes, so kids can focus on assembling their witch and deciding how they want the finished disguise to look. Colored paper, scissors, and glue are enough to turn the pieces into a Halloween witch ghost.

Directions
Start by printing the template, then gather the materials for this fun activity. Get those scissors ready, and let’s help the kids bring this witch ghost to life!

Take the dress and glue it onto the ghost’s body, lining up the curved top edge below the ghost’s face. Let the bottom of the ghost peek out underneath the pointed edge of the dress.

Look for the front of cape and glue it across the top of the dress, just below the ghost’s face.

Glue the hat onto the top of the ghost’s head. Position the wide brim across the head so the tall, pointed section sticks up above it.

Grab the cape pieces and glue them behind the sides of the dress so they peek out on the left and right. This is a fun time to let kids see how layering paper pieces can turn their friendly ghost into a witch!

Glue the hat band across the lower section of the hat, just above the brim.

Now it’s time to make the witch’s broom! Glue the broom to the bottom of the broomstick, overlapping the pieces slightly so they look connected.

Once the broom is ready, glue it along the side of the ghost so it looks like the little witch is holding it.

Finish by using a marker to add rosy cheeks below the ghost’s eyes. Now your child has transformed the friendly ghost into an adorable witch, perfect for some not-so-spooky Halloween fun!

Who knew hiding a ghost could be this much fun? Kids can turn their ghost into a friendly witch while working on fine motor skills, sequencing, and creative thinking.

Halloween Books for Children
Room On The Broom: This has to be one of our favorite Halloween books of all time! The story follows a witch and her cat as they happen upon some animals who help the witch. There’s danger, mystery, and friendship in this adorable children’s story.
The Good, The Bad, And The Spooky: Halloween is the Bad Seed’s favorite holiday, but when he can’t come up with the perfect costume, he decides trick-or-treating should be postponed for everyone! Kids will love following his funny quest to find a show-stopping costume before the big night. With plenty of humor and Halloween fun, this is a great seasonal read for fans of The Bad Seed and the Food Group series.
Ten Timid Ghosts: This is a fun countdown book about a witch who moves into a haunted house where 10 ghosts already live. The witch scares the ghosts out one by one until they devise a scheme to get her out of their house. This Halloween children’s book is good for kids who love rhyming stories!

More Halloween Crafts
Halloween Potion Name Craft: Names look much more Halloween-y when they’re floating around inside a potion bottle. With this activity, kids arrange bubble-shaped letters to spell their name inside the colorful potion. They can even draw extra bubbles around it, which makes every bottle look a little different.
Witch Candy Corn Craft: Candy corn as a witch dress just works. This idea combines a green witch, pointy hat, and candy corn-inspired dress, and kids can choose colors for details like her hair. It’s such a fun mashup of two things that immediately say Halloween.

Unicorn Pumpkin Craft: A pumpkin doesn’t have to stay a pumpkin. Kids can turn it into a unicorn with this idea, adding a horn, ears, flowers, and a colorful mane. Choosing the mane and flower colors is where they can really make this one their own.
Disguise A Ghost Princess Craft: Apparently ghosts can dress up for the royal ball too. This ghost is layered with a gown and crown, with kids choosing colors as they put her costume together.
Halloween Activities for Kids
These witch worksheets have a little bit of everything, but the cut-and-paste page is such a good one. Kids match words like “hat” and “wand” to the witch, so they’re working with vocabulary without it feeling like a plain word worksheet. Much better when there’s a witch involved.

Matching pages can get repetitive fast, but these Halloween matching worksheets change things up on every page. Kids match spooky characters to their shadows, then switch to colorful bats and cauldrons on the next one. Much more fun than doing the same kind of matching four times.

Cutting along a straight line? Fine. Cutting along a witch’s broomstick? Now we’re talking. These Halloween cutting practice worksheets give kids different paths to follow, including curves and zigzags, so the scissor practice doesn’t feel like the same line over and over.
Apparently candy corn can be a vampire now, and I’m completely on board with that. These candy corn coloring pages turn the classic Halloween candy into characters like mummies and witches, with big spaces that are easy for younger kids to color. The costumes make these way more fun than plain candy corn pictures.
