Directions
Start by downloading and printing the template. Once the template is printed, gather the materials for this fun activity. Get those scissors ready, and let’s help the kids bring this witch house to life!

First, take a paper plate and have your child paint it a vibrant light blue. This will be the base of our haunted house. Alternatively, if you don’t want to paint you can use a party plate and skip this step.

Once the paint on the paper plate is dry, place the house outline on the plate and trace it. Then cut out the house shape with scissors.

Place the cut side of the paper plate down, then take the larger purple door outline and glue it to the bottom and center of the paper plate. This is the main entrance to your child’s spooky abode!

Now, take the smaller yellow door and glue it right on top of the purple door outline.

Time to put the “haunted” in haunted house! Grab the windows with the creepy cat and spider silhouettes and glue one on each side of the door.

Before adding the roof, carefully cut small slits at the top of the paper plate. This helps the plate flatten slightly, making it easier to attach the roof and other pieces.

Glue the purple roof to the top of the paper plate. Make sure the scalloped edge is facing down over the windows.

Every house needs a chimney! Glue the blue chimney with the brick pattern behind the roof on one side.

Optionally, let’s bring our friendly witch to life! Take the orange hair piece and trim the ends to create a cute fringe.

Glue the hair piece onto the left side of the witch’s face.

Place the witch’s hat on her head and glue it down. Make sure it sits nicely on top of the hair for a magical look.

Next, grab the witch’s dress and glue it to the back and bottom of her head.

Then, glue the leg to the back and bottom of the dress.

Look for the hand piece and glue it to the right side of the dress. This will allow her to hold the broom, ready for action.

Cut the ends of the broom piece to create a textured, realistic look.

Glue the broom piece to the ends of the broomstick.

Now it’s time for the witch to fly! Take your finished witch and glue her over the broom, overlapping slightly so she looks like she’s riding it.

Finally, take your completed paper plate and paste the witch on the roof part. Step back and admire your flying witch masterpiece!

Isn’t it amazing how our witch is flying right off the paper plate? Your kids will love seeing their haunted house come to life! While you’re here, check out some of our other paper plate crafts for even more hands-on fun.
