Horton Hears A Who Craft
National Reading Day on March 2 is also a day for Dr. Seuss birthday celebrations. After reading Horton Hears a Who together, construct this book inspired project as a special keepsake. You’ll love how little prep work is required to create this cute elephant!
Supplies
- Colored cardstock or construction paper
- Scissors
- Glue
- Pencil
- Black marker
- Horton template (click the “click here to get your freebie” image at the end of the post)
Directions
Start by downloading and printing the template. Once the template is printed, gather the materials for this fun activity. Get those scissors ready, and let’s help the kids bring horton to life!
First, guide your child to grab the eyes and carefully apply a small dot of glue on the back of each eye and glue them underneath the eyelashes.

Trace your child’s hands onto a piece of paper and cut out. Next, glue one handprint to each side of the head as ears.

Finally, encourage your child to draw marks on the ears to depict ear hair and the top ridge of the ear.
