When youโre enjoying the sounds of spring on a walk or playing outside with the kids, they may notice all sorts of new insects and bugs. One of our favorite insects inspired our ladybug toilet paper roll craft!
These lucky insects are easy to spot since theyโre bright red! Some think ladybugs are good luck if they land on you! Ladybugs are helpful insects since they help farmers by eating pests on crops.
Have kids learn more about these amazing insects when they recycle a toilet paper tube into a fun craft! Weโve provided a template and a step-by-step tutorial below that will make creating this craft with your kids a breeze!

Ladybug Craft Idea

Supplies
- Colored cardstock or construction paper
- Scissors
- Glue
- Tape
- Crayons or markers (if using the color in version)
- Ladybug template (enter your email in the form at the end of this post to have the link sent to you)
Directions
Download the ladybug template and print it out. If youโre using the color in version, have the kids color in the pieces before cutting them out.

Begin by gluing the eyes near the bottom of the head, just above the mouth.

Flip the head over, so the mouth is at the top and glue it to the top and middle of the ladybugโs body.

Take a piece of tape on the end of one side of the ladybugโs body and tape it to the toilet roll. Place another piece of tape on the opposite side, wrap it around the cardboard tube, and tape it in place.


Finish up by gluing the ladybugโs wings in the middle of the ladybugโs body, slightly overlapping the eyes.
