Turning a Snowgirl Into a Mermaid

This project turns a plain snowman into a mermaid that looks like she belongs in the sea. Kids can customize their mermaid with different colors of hair, shells, and tails to make it their own. This imaginative snowman disguise will be a hit with the kids.

Directions

Print the template and gather the materials for this fun activity. Get those scissors ready, and let’s help the kids bring this mermaid snowman to life!

Start with the snowgirl’s body. Grab the orange marker and help your child color in the carrot nose right in the center of the face.

Next, take a pink marker and lightly color two small circles for the cheeks just below the eyes. Instantly, your snowman looks cheerful and ready for a disguise.

Time to decorate the head. Find the bangs piece and glue it along the top of the snowman’s head.

Grab the seashell pieces. Add glue to the back of one seashell and place it on the snowgirl’s body. Repeat with the second seashell right next to it.

Let’s give her arms. Take one arm and glue it behind the snowman’s body on one side. Repeat on the other side with the second arm.

Now for the mermaid hair! Take the snowman’s body and glue it over the long hair piece.

Time for the big transformation. Grab the mermaid tail and glue it to the bottom of the snowgirl’s body so it lines up evenly. Suddenly, she is half snowman, half mermaid!

Lastly, take the top of the tail piece and glue it across the top of the mermaid tail like a little sea skirt.

Mermaid Disguise A Snowman Project

The Mermaid Disguise a Snowman craft lets kids transform a snowgirl with shells and a mermaid tail for a fun underwater winter twist.

Materials

  • Colored cardstock or construction paper
  • Scissors
  • Glue
  • Markers
  • Mermaid Disguise A Snowman Project

Instructions

  • Print the template and cut out the pieces you need.
  • Start by coloring the carrot nose and the rosy cheeks on the snowgirl's head.
  • Next, glue the bangs to the top of the snowgirl's head.
  • Glue the seashell top pieces onto the upper portion of the snowgirl's body.
  • Take the arms and glue them to the back and both sides of the upper body.
  • Now, glue the snowgirl's body in the middle of the mermaid's hair.
  • Glue the mermaid tail to the bottom of the snowman body.
  • Optionally, finish by gluing the top edge tail piece across the top of the mermaid tail to complete the craft.
