Supplies

Directions

Download the horse template, print and cut out the pieces.

Paint your paper plate in a thin coat of brown paint and let dry completely. In our example, we used dark brown paint, but you can try black, light brown, white or cream colored.

As a side note, we painted two paper plates brown instead of one. The second one we used to cut out the horse’s ears from. If you don’t want to paint 2 paper plates, you can choose to use the same colored card stock or construction paper instead.

Additionally, if you don’t want to deal with the mess that comes with painting you can skip it and use brown paper plates instead.

Take the two large eyes and glue them towards the top of the paper plate. Use the brown marker to draw on the nostrils and mouth on the cream muzzle.

Glue this piece just beneath the eyes, in the middle of the paper plate.

Position the horse’s mane at the top of the paper plate and glue or tape it down. We’ve found tape works the best on painted paper plates.

Cut out the horse’s ears from the second paper plate or brown construction paper and tape them to the back of the paper plate.
