Directions
Start by downloading and printing the template. Once the template is printed, gather the materials for this fun activity. Get those scissors ready, and let’s help the kids bring this pencil to life!

Place the blue background with the outlined pencil shape in front of your child. Help them scrunch up the black tissue paper squares to form the pencil tip. Show them how to crumple the pieces into little balls, then glue them down inside the tip outline.

Next, have your child crumple the yellow tissue paper squares into little balls (this builds fine motor strength). Then, glue them inside the pencil body area. Keep going until it’s fully filled in.

Now let’s add that classic pink eraser to the top of the pencil. Simply glue the pink piece on top of the yellow tissue section.

Glue the gray band just below the eraser. This part makes the pencil look real and gives it that polished touch.

Stick the eyes right onto the yellow tissue, just below the gray metal band. This is where the pencil starts looking oh-so-cute!

Time to give your pencil some personality! Glue the mouth right under the eyes.

Finish by adding the little pink tongue inside the smile for that playful touch.

Isn’t this such a fun way to kick off the school year? If your kids enjoyed this activity, keep the excitement going with our school bus crafts. They’re just as easy and super fun for little hands!
