Directions

Start by downloading the bee template and printing it out. Once you have the template printed, gather the materials needed for this fun activity. Get those scissors ready, and let’s help the kids bring this bee template to life!

Now, with all our pieces ready, let’s start bringing our bee to life. Have your child pick them up and glue them right in the middle of the head.

Next up, the antennae. These give our bee its sense of direction. Show your child how to apply a bit of glue to the bottom of each antenna and then attach them to the top and back of the bee’s head.

Now, let’s add some stylish stripes! Take the stripes and align them along the bottom part of the paper cup body. This is a great time to talk about patterns and colors with your kids. Once you’ve decided where each stripe should go, help them glue each one in place.

Now, let’s attach the head to the body. Apply some glue or double sided tape (that’s what we use) to the bottom of the head piece and gently press it onto the top of the paper cup. Your child can take the lead here, with you guiding them to ensure the head sits just right.

Lastly, we can’t forget about the wings – no bee is complete without them! Show your child how to take each wing and fold about 1/2” of the paper from the pointed side to the back. This little fold is where we’ll apply double sided tape or a dab of glue. It’s the easiest and fastest way to ensure those wings stay on securely. Then, attach one wing along one side of the bee’s body, and repeat for the other side.
