If you’re familiar with the whimsical world of Dr. Seuss, you’ve likely encountered a couple of mischievous characters bounding through pages with their wild blue hair and infectious energy. Bring these favorite characters to life with this fork painted Thing 1 Thing 2 craft!
Get your little artists to grab their paint brushes, or in this case, a fork, to give Thing 1 and Thing 2 their signature crazy blue hair. Painting with a fork adds an extra element of fun, plus it’s a great way for young children to hone those fine motor skills while getting creative.

Thing 1 Fork Painting

Ready to get started on this craft project? We’ve made it easy for you. Simply download the free template provided, and your kids will be well on their way to creating their very own cute Thing 1 and Thing 2 masterpieces in no time.
Supplies
- Fork
- Colored cardstock
- Scissors
- Glue stick
- Paint
- Paper plate

Directions
Start by downloading the template and printing it out. Once the template is printed, gather the materials for this fun activity. Get those scissors ready, and let’s help the kids bring this Thing 1 to life!

First, guide your child to grab the disposable fork and paint. Squeeze them onto a paper plate, then dip the fork in the paint and paint the hair onto the background paper.

Next, help your child to take the shirt cut-out and apply some glue to the back of it. Then, stick it onto the bottom of your painted background paper.

Now, apply some glue to the back of the head and attach the head to the top of the shirt piece.

Finally, encourage your child to glue the shirt label in the center of the shirt.

Instructions
- Download the thing 1 thing 2 template, print, and cut out the pieces you need.
- Begin by spreading the two paint colors on the background paper using the fork.
- Next, glue the shirt to the bottom of the background paper.
- Attach the head to the top of the shirt using glue.
- Finish up by gluing the shirt label in the center of the shirt.
