Directions
Download the giraffe template, print, and cut out the pieces you need.
Position the ears on the corners of the paper bag flap and glue in place.
Glue the giraffe head to the flap of the brown paper bag. Glue the body to the rest of the paper bag.
Use a brown or orange marker to draw on giraffe spots all along the ears, face, and body.
Position the eyes about .5″ from the bottom of the flap and glue in place.
Take the mouth/nose area and glue it to the lower portion of the face so that it is slightly overlapping the eyes. This part will hang partly off the flap.
Finish making the giraffe’s horns by gluing the circle top to the rectangle base. Glue the completed horns to the back of the head, in between the ears.
Now let your child play with this new giraffe puppet!
Animal Preschool Theme
Want to create a whole week long animal unit for your kiddos? We’ve got lots of ideas to keep them entertained, engaged, and learning!
If you want to help your child learn, try out these zoo animal worksheets for preschool. There’s 24 pages of fun that reinforce learning things like:
- handwriting
- letter recognition
- patterns
- counting
- memory
- critical thinking
Another great educational activity are these animal do a dot printables. They touch on counting, fine motor skills, and the ABCs.
Besides printables, we’re also sharing some of our top animal crafts! This handprint flamingo card is one of our most popular! It’s super cute and has a printable template included too.
This paper plate penguin is another reader favorite, probably because it’s super simple and cute.
Books are a great way to get even further into a theme! On top of that, reading to kids helps them develop a stronger vocabulary and helps them learn to focus. It’s a win-win situation! Try out some of these cool books about space:
The Fascinating Animal Book For Kids is a great book for curious kiddos! Find facts on almost any animal your child is learning about. This is a great resource to have in your home library collection.
The View At The Zoo is a silly book about all the animals at the zoo. When the people come to take a look at the animals, they see all sorts of sights! But, there’s a twist to this book that you have to read for yourself and laugh about!
Giraffes Can’t Dance is a sweet and fun book about Gerald the Giraffe. He can’t dance, but doesn’t stop trying! He finally finds his own rhythm when he meets an unlikely friend.
Sensory activities are also another activity you’ll want to incorporate into your zoo animal theme. This zoo playdough kit is perfect for letting the kids have some independent playtime.
