Mummy Paper Craft

Learning through play and getting creative is the best way to get lessons to stick with your kids. They’ll love creating this mummy made out of simple geometric forms, and they’ll be able to recognize the rectangles and circles that make up its body.

This mummy shape activity is a great way to show kids how larger objects are made up of basic shapes. This is a helpful skill that artists use to break down complex images into simple forms to more easily create their art.

Kids will also get to improve their hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills when they cut and glue all the shapes into a spooky but cute mummy.

Supplies

  • Colored cardstock or construction paper
  • Scissors
  • Glue

Directions

Start by downloading and printing the template. Once the template is printed, gather the materials for this fun activity. Get those scissors ready, and let’s help the kids bring this mummy to life!

Take the circle head piece and glue the eyes onto the black band area. This instantly gives your mummy some personality.

Glue the circle head on top of the rectangle body piece. Now your mummy is starting to take shape!

Next, take the rectangular arm pieces. Glue one arm on each side of the body. Let them stick out so your mummy can wave or reach for Halloween treats.

After the arms, grab the two rectangular leg pieces and glue one to each side of the bottom of the body. You can angle them so your mummy looks like it’s walking or standing still.

Once done, take the small rectangle head strips and glue them across the circle head. Layer them to give it that classic mummy-wrapped look.

Mummy Shape Craft

This mummy shape craft is a fun Halloween activity for preschool and kindergarten kids to practice shape recognition while creating a friendly, not-too-spooky mummy.

Materials

  • Colored cardstock or construction paper
  • Scissors
  • Glue
  • Mummy Template

Instructions

  • Download the template, print it, and cut out the pieces you need.
  • Begin by gluing the eyes onto the head within the eye area.
  • Next, glue the head to the top of the body.
  • Then, glue one arm to each side of the body.
  • After that, glue one leg to each side of the bottom of the body.
  • Finish by gluing the head strips across the head to create the wrapped effect.
