Lady Liberty Torch Craft
Kids will enjoy making Lady Liberty’s torch come to life with bright orange, red, and yellow flames dancing from the top. The paper torch is easy to assemble and gets little ones creating something like the real thing held up high in the New York Harbor.
This is an easy and inexpensive project using simple supplies you may already have on hand. It’s a fun way for kids to celebrate the 4th of July while exploring history and symbolism.

- Colored cardstock or construction paper

Directions
Start by downloading and printing the template. Once the template is printed, gather the materials for this fun activity. Get those scissors ready, and let’s help the kids bring this torch to life!
Take the eye pieces and glue them onto the green torch base, just below the eyebrows. This gives your torch that wide-eyed, friendly look kids love!
Next, grab those little pink cheeks and glue them right under the eyes. It’s a small detail, but it makes the torch look extra cute! Alternatively, your child can draw them on with a pink marker.
Now let’s move on to the fire! Grab the large red flame and glue the yellow flame piece right in the center.
Next, glue the orange flame on top of the yellow one. Talk about how fire has different colors and temperatures, and turn this into a quick science moment if your child is curious!
Finally, glue the finished flame to the top back of the torch base. Let it dry, then proudly hold up your creation. It’s ready for display!

Materials
- Colored cardstock or construction paper
- Scissors
- Glue
- Statue of Liberty Torch Template
Instructions
- Download the template, print it, and cut out the pieces you need.
- Begin by gluing the eyes onto the torch base, just below the top edge.
- Next, glue the cheeks below each of the eyes.
- Then glue the smaller flame piece onto the middle-sized flame.
- After that, glue the layered flames onto the largest flame base.
- Finally, attach the completed flame to the back of the torch base.
