A tiny dinosaur peeks over a cracked egg in this adorable hatching dinosaur craft. Children will decorate an Easter egg, then add a smiling baby dinosaur popping out of the top. Colorful patterns, spots, and stripes turn the egg into fun Easter egg art, and the little dino adds a surprise element kids will love.
Use this creative time to have children explore art while practicing important skills. Cutting the shapes out strengthens fine motor development, gluing pieces builds coordination, and decorating encourages their imaginations. Kids will also enjoy storytelling as their dinosaur “hatches” this Easter season.

Directions
Start by printing the template, then gather the materials for this fun activity. Get those scissors ready, and let’s help the kids bring this dinosaur to life!

Glue the eye onto the dinosaur’s face just below the eyebrow, centering it between the eyebrow and the curved smile line.

Glue the cheek onto the dinosaur’s face just below the eye, slightly to the left side. This small circle adds a pop of color and makes your dinosaur look extra cute and friendly.

Look for the spines and glue them onto the side of the dinosaur’s head and neck, lining them up along the curved edge. This step gives your dinosaur its classic look!

Take the shell piece and glue it to the bottom of the dinosaur’s body, positioning it so the cracked edge lines up just under the neck and looks like the dinosaur is sitting inside the egg.

Slide the back of shell piece behind the dinosaur’s lower body, lining it up so the jagged edge matches the front shell. Glue it in place and press firmly to secure. This creates the look of the dinosaur hatching out of the egg.

Glue the shell stripes across the egg shell. Space them out so they decorate the shell nicely.

Glue the shell spots onto the middle section of the egg, in between the stripes. This is a perfect step for practicing simple patterns or color matching if you want to make it a little more interactive.

Look for the arm pieces and glue them along the top edge of the egg, placing them just under the dinosaur’s body so they sit right on the cracked shell. This makes it look like the dinosaur is resting its arms on the egg and brings the whole craft to life!

Use a marker and color in the small nail shapes on each arm, tracing inside the lines to add detail. This simple step makes your dinosaur look more finished and adds a fun final touch to your craft.

And just like that, your adorable dinosaur Easter egg craft is complete! This craft is a fun way to help kids practice fine motor skills, follow simple steps, and get creative with colors and shapes while bringing their dinosaur to life.
