We’re giving you a free printable template too! Just download it and make one of the two version available.

The first version is the craft version. With this one, kids cut out the pieces to their leprechaun and glue or tape them together to make their finished headband.

The second version is a black and white version. For this one, kids color in the headband with markers or crayons, then assemble it. It’s easier and works great for younger children or if you’re doing this in a large group, like a classroom.

Supplies

Directions

Start by downloading the leprechaun template and printing it out. Once you have the template printed, gather the materials needed for this fun activity.

Let’s take the beard piece apply some glue to the bottom of the face piece and carefully press the beard in place. Next, it’s hair time! Glue the hair to the top of the head, transforming our basic shape into a character full of personality.

Next up, those expressive eyebrows. Position them towards the top of the face, just right to show if our leprechaun is feeling mischevious or charming today. A dab of glue will keep them in place.

After that, it’s time for the eyes, which go just below the eyebrows on each side.

Now, for the nose – place the nose at the top of the mouth slightly overlapping both eyes.

To give our leprechaun that extra dash of personality, let’s glue the ears to the back of the face, where the beard and hair meet.

Now, it’s time to make the iconic hat! Begin by gluing the black band to the middle of the hat.

Then place the yellow outer buckle in the center of the black band. Finally, add the black inner buckle in the middle of the yellow one.

Now, let’s take the completed hat and affix it to the top of our leprechaun’s head.

To ensure our leprechaun stays securely in place, let’s glue or tape the leprechaun head to the headband base. It’s important to make sure everything is nice and secure, just like a leprechaun guarding his treasure!
