Star Wars Day is a fun excuse to bring creativity to the classroom or your kitchen table! This paper plate Baby Yoda craft will be a hit with kids in 1st through 3rd grade. They’ll get to paint a simple paper plate and use our free template to create Baby Yoda, aka Grogu.
This Grogu craft combines artistic skills and hands-on learning to have fun improving fine motor skills and following directions. You can expect about 35 minutes of focused, screen-free time when children complete this fun May the 4th activity.

Grogu DIY for Kids
Bring Grogu from The Mandalorian to life using a paper plate as the canvas! This activity is not only fun to make, but it also helps kids work on fine motor skills, cutting practice, and following directions.

Supplies
- Paper Plate
- Paint
- Paintbrush
- Scissors
- Pencil
- Marker
- Tape
- Baby Yoda template (click the “click here to get your freebies” image at the end of the post)
Directions
Download the Baby Yoda template, print it, and cut out the pieces you need.

Paint a paper plate in 1-2 thin coats of green paint. If you want to make Yoda’s ears from a paper plate, paint a 2nd paint green as well. If you want to use colored cardstock instead, skip to the next step. Let dry completely before moving on.

Place the head template in the middle of the paper plate, trace it, and cut it out.

Glue the eyes in the middle of the head, then glue the nose just below the eyes.


Use the black marker to draw on Baby Yoda’s wrinkles and smile.

Place the inner ears on the bottom of the outer ears and glue them in place. Trim off any excess.

Position the completed ears on either side of the head, flip over, and tape them into place.
