Supplies
- Paper plate
- Colored cardstock
- White cardstock
- Glue stick
- Scissors
- Markers
- Tape (optional)
- Unicorn craft template (download form located at the end of this post)
Directions
Download the unicorn craft template, print and cut out the pieces. You can choose any colored paper you want for the unicorn’s hair. We chose different shades of pink, blue and purple.
Place the unicorn’s eyes almost towards the bottom of the paper plate, like in the picture below. You’ll need to leave a big amount of space at the top of the unicorn’s mane, so make sure it’s not too high.
Glue the pink unicorn’s muzzle on just at the bottom of the eyes. Use a pink marker to draw on nostril holes in the middle and two small ovals on the side for cheeks.
Begin to assemble the unicorn’s mane by gluing the horn to the middle hair piece. Next, glue the bottom hair piece to the bottom of the middle hair piece. Finally, take this piece and glue it to the bottom of the top hair piece. If this sounds confusing, just make sure to watch the video to see the order we glued them in.

Take the completed unicorn’s mane and use tape to secure it to the top of the paper plate. We like to use tape whenever we need to secure something to the curved part of the paper plate because it holds better and there’s no dry time.
Whenever we use a glue stick we have the problem of the paper falling off over time.
Glue the pink inner ear to the white outer ear to complete the ears. If you want to simplify, you can also use the pink marker to draw in the inner ears instead of using paper.
Use tape to secure the unicorn’s ears to the top of the paper plate, with one on each side.

Isn’t this the cutest unicorn craft?! We just love how bright and happy it looks.
This craft is perfect for making at a little girl’s unicorn birthday party because it’s super simple and so bright and fun!
If you’re making this craft with very young kids (think toddlers and preschoolers) be sure to have all the pieces cut out and ready to go.
You can have your little helpers feel involved by letting them glue the pieces on and drawing in the nostrils and cheeks.
We’re sure young kids will want to help pick out the unicorn’s mane colors too!
