Free Pumpkin Emotions Flashcards

Kids love a good face, and these pumpkins know how to show it! From excited grins and silly frowns to creased eyebrows, they’ve got all the expressions covered.

Using them opens up plenty of room for laughs and learning, particularly for preschool, pre-K, and kindergarten kids. They help build emotional vocabulary and early social awareness, which makes them a handy tool during group time or quiet moments.

Hold up a card and ask, “How do you think this pumpkin feels?” and then watch as a round of guessing game begins. Once the little ones take a few stabs at it, read the emotion out loud together.

That simple back-and-forth allows them to connect what they see with how people feel. For a twist, turn the cards into a memory or matching game that kids can play in school or at home. Lay them face down on the floor, and let the flipping fun begin!

You can also try a round of Emotions Charades. One child picks a card, acts it out, and the others try to name the mood. It usually ends with a lot of giggles and some surprisingly good acting.

A flashcard features a cartoon pumpkin with one eye winking, the other eye wide open, and its tongue playfully sticking out to depict the emotion "silly." The word "silly" is written in bold black letters below the image on a white background.Pin

Or, set up a Pumpkin Patch of Feelings board in your classroom. Use clothespins or Velcro and let kids pick a card that shows how they’re feeling.

It’s a quiet little check-in that can speak volumes about how they are that day. These activities support self-expression, empathy, and group communication skills without feeling too structured.

Moreover, these printables aren’t just cute decorations, as they’re great conversation starters! Kids can talk about moods with their friends and make connections in real time.

A grumpy pumpkin can lead to a whole chat about what made someone upset that morning. A smiling one might open the door to a good story. Either way, they open the door to meaningful talk and a better understanding of each other!
