Squirrel Handprint Craft For Kids(Free PDF Template)

This hands-on activity is a fun way to encourage kids to see their handprints become something else entirely. Divergent thinking involves looking at things from different perspectives, coming up with creative ideas, and considering multiple possibilities which is great for learning how to problem solve.

Directions

Start by downloading the template and printing it out. Once the template is printed, gather the materials for this fun activity. Get those scissors ready, and let’s help the kids bring this squirrel to life!

First, guide your child to glue the eye below the eyebrow.

Position the nose and mouth piece below the eye and glue it in place.

Next, help your child glue the inner ear to the center of the outer ear.

Trace your child’s hand onto a piece of brown or orange paper and cut it out. Position the handprint with the thumb up and the fingers pointed to the left. Place the head on top of the thumb and glue it in place.

Now, glue the underside of the tail to the bottom portion of the tail.

Take the completed tail and glue it to the back and right side of the squirrel body.

Finally, encourage your child to glue the squirrel to the side of the tree.

Handprint Squirrel Craft

Spark your kids’ imaginations and creativity with this handprint squirrel craft.

Materials

  • Colored cardstock or construction paper
  • Glue stick
  • Scissors
  • Pencil
  • Squirrel template

Instructions

  1. Download the squirrel template, print it, and cut out the pieces you need.
  2. Begin by gluing the eye below the eyebrow.
