Elephant Paper Bag Puppet Craft [Free Template]

Elephants are one of the most popular zoo animals with kids.

They’re well-known for their large size and their long, flexible trunks that they use to pick up food and water, as well as for their high intelligence!

It’s no wonder kids love them!

Today, we’re here to share with you how kids can create an elephant paper bag puppet.

Not only will kids enjoy making these cute paper bag puppets, but they will also work on skills like cutting and fine motor control all while having fun!

Elephant Puppet Craft

Supplies

  • Brown paper bag
  • Colored cardstock or construction paper
  • Scissors
  • Glue
  • Elephant template (enter your email in the form at the end of this post to have the link sent to you)

Directions

Download the elephant template, print, and cut out the pieces you need.

Begin to make the puppet by glue the eyes in the middle of the elephant head.

Next, take the trunk and glue it in between and slightly overlapping the eyes.

Place the cheeks on the outside of the eyes and glue them down.

Create the ears by gluing the darker inner ears to the lighter outer ears.

Glue the completed ears, one on each side, to the back of the elephant head.

Take the completed elephant head and glue it to the flap portion of the brown paper bag.

Make the elephant’s legs by gluing the nails to the bottom of the feet.

Next, place the feet on the elephant’s body and glue them in place. We angled our slightly inward and cut off the excess paper that hung off the sides.

Finish making the elephant by gluing the body to the main part of the brown paper bag.
