BBQ Paper Craft for Dad

Fire up the fun with this backyard barbecue theme to make this paper grill craft for Dad. Kids will assemble their own grill using colored paper and our helpful template. The finished project features tasty burgers and a punny message that lets Dad know he is “grate”!

Take the grill base and glue the grate piece along the top edge. This will be the main part of your craft where everything comes together.

Find the hamburger patty pieces. Add glue to the back of each one and place them on top of the grate. Let your child decide where they go and press them down firmly.

Glue the eye pieces just below the grate, centering them on the grill.

Grab a white marker and help your child draw a smiling mouth under the eyes.

Using a pink marker, add cheeks on each side of the face. This step makes the grill look extra cute and full of character.

Take the hinge piece and glue it to the back of the grill, right above the grate.

Glue the leg pieces to the bottom and back of the grill base. Help your child space them out evenly.

Look for the wheel pieces and glue one wheel to the bottom of each leg.

Materials

  • Colored cardstock or construction paper
  • Scissors
  • Glue
  • Crayola Bold & Brighter markers
  • Father’s Day Grill Template

Instructions

  • Print the template and gather the materials for this fun activity.
  • Begin by gluing the grate piece along the top edge of the grill base.
  • Glue the hamburger patty pieces onto the grate.
  • Glue the eye pieces just below the grate, centering them on the grill.
  • Use a white marker to draw a smiling mouth under the eyes.
  • Add cheeks on each side of the face with a pink marker.
  • Glue the hinge piece to the back of the grill, right above the grate.
  • Glue the lid piece that says “Dad, you’re GRATE!” to the hinge.
  • Look for the leg pieces and glue them to the bottom and back of the grill base.
  • Glue one wheel piece to the bottom of each leg.
  • Use a white marker to add small circles in the middle of each wheel.
